1. Introduction (5 minutes)
- Objective: Explain the purpose of the workshop and why defining mission, vision, and purpose is important for the organization.
- Define Mission as what the company does.
- Define Vision as the future impact or goal.
- Define Purpose as the "why" behind the company's existence.
Tip: Provide 1-2 examples from well-known companies to clarify these concepts.
2. Defining the Purpose (10 minutes)
- Activity: Ask participants to brainstorm the core reasons the company exists.
- Pose questions like:
- What problem does the company solve?
- Why do customers care about what we do?
- Collect quick responses from everyone (either verbally or using sticky notes).
Outcome: A clear, concise statement that defines the company's purpose (1-2 sentences).
3. Crafting the Mission (7 minutes)
- Activity: Transition to the mission by asking:
- What does the company do today to fulfill its purpose?
- What are the core activities, products, or services?
- Ask for 1-2 responses from each participant, capturing key activities.
Outcome: Draft a mission statement based on inputs, summarizing what the company does to achieve its purpose.
4. Envisioning the Future (5 minutes)
- Activity: Guide participants in envisioning the long-term future:
- What is the ideal impact of the company in 5-10 years?
- How do we hope to change the industry or community?
- Encourage short, aspirational answers.
Outcome: Develop a vision statement that captures the company’s future ambition.
